Whilst still at school, Wiltshire photographed Led Zeppelin's first UK gig, in 1968 at the Marquee. Wiltshire's fascination with the atmosphere and lighting effects at rock concerts compelled him to capture images of mood, action and audience reaction. He initially photographed Warwick University events; then at the Rolling Stones' 1973 Rotterdam shows. The latter pictures were syndicated by a leading press agency and established his editorial contacts.
Since 1974 Wiltshire has photographed many artistes and styles; also shooting ballet, modern dance, theatre and motion picture stills. His work has been used in films and in television programmes, as well as in the NME, Rockin' On and many other papers. In 1996 Wiltshire was awarded the Sunday Times magazine 'Image of England' photo contest.
He has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows making debut at the ICA in 1978 with his "Who's who?" show.
