Robert Illingworth is a Canadian photographer most noted for his iconic images of Buddy Holly and the Crickets. A Rock and Roll fan from a young age, Illingworth was eighteen years of age when these photographs were taken. Using a Yashica Mat camera that he had won in a competition, Illingworth was able able to capture the fun and exuberance of Buddy Holly’s performances and the intimate atmosphere of the Canadian concerts in 1958.
